We went for brunch at Jumbo Dim Sum today with Wyatt and Holly... I absolutely love dim sum, it's one of my favorite traditions. I love that my family took the time to expose me to so many different foods when I was little, I can't imagine my life without the foody goodness part of it.
I brought my ever-present iPhone 3G out to take pictures... and barely managed to remember to take said pictures while I inhaled my food! We even have some leftovers for me to take for lunch tomorrow =) Click through if you feel like drooling...

BBQ pork bun-- when we got these, they were so hot and amazing, like they'd JUST come out of the oven. Completely fresh. |

Green onion cake! Good green onion cakes are difficult to find, and while this isn't the *best* g.o.c. I've ever had, it definitely ranks up there with the good ones. (The best one I've ever had was at a hole-in-the-wall dive restaurant on 97th street, just north of the Yellowhead.) |

Shrimp cake. They were a teeny bit greasy today, but still quite delicious. |

Shrimp dumplings. These are my absolute favorite dim sum treat-- I order them every time we go out for dim sum, and even when we don't! My parents generally order from Jumbo for Christmas Eve dinner, and I always request these from the dim sum menu as well. Nomnomnomnomnom. |

Sticky rice, wrapped in a banana leaf-- or is it a lotus leaf? I'm not quite certain. At any rate, the portions of sticky rice at Jumbo are HUGE compared to the ones at other restaurants. Between Rory and myself we only finished ONE leaf-wrapped rice treasure. We brought the other one home for lunch tomorrow :) |
|
BBQ beef on a skewer-- by the time this came around to our table, I was completely stuffed (and barely managed to eat my dessert!), so I brought this skewer home to take to work tomorrow as well. |
... yup, my lunch tomorrow at work is going to consist solely of leftovers. And what amazing, delicious leftovers they shall be!
