There's a bright side to allergies, you know!

Over the summer, probably in June or July, I had gone to the Bath and Body Works in West Edmonton Mall and bought a Wallflower. They're a plug-in-to-the-wall home fragrance unit that has bulbs you can interchange. Neat concept.

The downside? Well, I got home and plugged my Wallflower in with a Sweet Pea bulb, and within 24 hours was having a very sneeze-a-riffic allergic reaction. It made me SO ill. At least I figured out what was making me sick, and promptly unplugged it and opened a couple windows.

Suffices to say, I stopped with the sneezing within a few hours.

Two weeks ago, I decided to give it a second try with a different bulb. Sadly, I had the same result-- although the allergy took a bit longer to kick in, it was still there.

Tired of making myself sick and not wanting to mess around with my allergies anymore, I decided that I would return the whole shebang. Smart little me had kept the bag, the original tags AND reciept all together. So when we went to Kingsway yesterday afternoon, I returned all three bulbs and the plug-in unit, and Rory and I spent about half an hour browsing through Bath and Body Works, looking for a couple scented candles to replace them with. Interestingly enough, I don't react to scented candles at all!!

If you want to see what we bought, hit the jump for the rest of my post...

In the end, this is what we chose:

Slatkin & Co. 14.5oz filled three-wick candle in Spice
and:
Slatkin & Co. 14.5oz filled three-wick candle in Vanilla Caramel
I'm currently sitting at my desk with the Spice candle burning beside me... yummm! I think I might have to buy one more of these before the scent is discontinued, because I quite enjoy it!

I also discovered that Rory is a scented candle person... so I'll be returning to B&BW, probably in the next week or so, to pick up a couple 4oz candles to put in his stocking! Probably the Mint Chocolate and the Pineapple Mango.

Now, remember the necklace that Rory bought for me yesterday? Well, I wore it to his company's staff Christmas party last night, and got a few compliments on it.
Rory got his hair cut yesterday afternoon as well... doesn't he look super classy?

Excuse the stupid expressions on our faces... if Rory isn't going to be normal and smile in a picture, then I'm not going to either!!
I also put up our Christmas tree on Friday night... it's only November, there's still no snow on the ground, but I don't care. I want a bit of Christmas spirit around here! I'll put up pictures once we have a tree skirt and things... it's sitting on an end table beside my computer desk, so it's tucked into a corner and out of the way.

Also: mid November in Edmonton and there's still no snow on the ground? I can't believe I'm complaining about that... but I'm pretty much ready for it to actually feel like winter now! I'm all armed with a nice warm winter coat and EVERYTHING.

Okay, I'm going to go watch a movie or something now. I was trying to watch The Time Traveler's Wife earlier, but it kept freezing on me. I think I'll try A Scanner Darkly next...
